Improving customer experience at the world-renowned Peter Jones Store, Sloane Square SW3
Project Reference: Lift Modernisation
Temple Lifts are proud of the long-standing relationship we have with the John Lewis Partnership and in 2013 we were awarded the maintenance contract for the existing 14 lifts installed at the Peter Jones store, Sloane Square. Apart from the routine lift servicing requirement that Temple Lifts are now undertaking, we have worked with the John Lewis Partnership Head Office Team and Peter Jones’ store management on a range of modernisation solutions to update the store’s ageing lifts.
Our first lift modernisation project was for the partial modernisation of four lifts during 2013. From the completion of these partial modernisations, all of the lifts returned to daily safe service. However, there was still an objective to address reliability and ride comfort issues on seven of the remaining passenger lifts.
The Temple approach and solution
Working again with John Lewis Partnership’s Head Office Team and Peter Jones’ store management – who in turn were managing tight refurbishment budgets – Temple Lifts proposed an improvement solution that required all seven of the poorly performing lifts to have new traditional drive units installed in the store’s lift motor room.
As with the project in 2013, the drive replacement programme ensured all of the lifts were in full, safe, operational working order and delivered to budget. Due to the high levels of visitors to the store, the modernisation was staggered to avoid the 2015 pre-Christmas sales activity, with final completion of all seven lifts in early 2016.
